IRM Survey: Brexit - Where do we go from here?
On 23 June 2016 the UK voted to leave the European Union. For government, organisations, communities and individuals the world of VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity) became an even more immediate and pressing reality. The Institute of Risk Management (IRM) sought out the views of its members as risk professionals on how prepared organisations were for this outcome and what the future is likely to hold.
52% of all respondents said that their organisation had considered Brexit risk scenarios before 23 June. 38% had not and 10% didn’t know.
In terms of the impact of Brexit on respondents’ organisations the assessment was:
- Major negative impact 16%
- Minor negative impact 35%
- Neutral 20%
- Minor positive impact 6%
- Major positive impact 6%
- Too uncertain to call 17%
