The EDI Challenges facing membership bodies in 2020

Available to all PARN members and non-members

This is the first in a series of online learning events to help PARN members develop a better understanding of the EDI issues and how to tackle them. Events aim to be informative, providing real world examples and case studies to inspire action. We'll signpost to additional learning resources and provide plenty of opportunities to discuss your questions that can be sent in advance.

This event will focus on the key areas that membership bodies can address to tackle Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Monica Stancu, Head of Diversity and Inclusion at the Royal Academy of Engineering will share the experience of how membership bodies have been addressing issues using the Progression Framework designed by the RAEng and Science Council.The areas include:

  • Governance
  • Membership and professional registration
  • Meetings, conferences and events
  • Education, training and examinations
  • Communications, marketing, outreach and engagement
  • Employment

The discussion panel will be Chaired by Noorzaman Rashid, Chair of the EDI SIG Steering Group. He will be joined by other Steering Group members; Mary Aluko Chartered Institute of Housing, Sarah Beacock Nuclear Institute, and Paul Murtagh Education and Training Foundation.

This event will also promote the aims and outcomes of the EDI SIG, membership benefits and costs. All following events will be available to EDI SIG members only.
