The Legal Services Act 2007 requires those involved in the provision of legal services to separate the representative activities of their professional bodies from the regulatory functions.

Two professional bodies, the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) and the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA), have each set up separate regulation boards - but in practice these boards work together as the Intellectual Property Regulation Board (IPReg), which started operating on 1 January 2010.

The Patent Regulation Board (PRB) and the Trade Mark Regulation Board (TRB) are responsible for all regulatory functions relating to their two professions, including qualification into the profession, professional standards, strategy and policy development and conduct and disciplinary matters.

IPReg are looking for 2 professional members as well as 1 lay member (Complete details about the lay member opportunity can be found by clicking here)
