The Nautical Institute is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) with consultative status at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). Our aim is to represent seafarers' and practical maritime professionals' views at the highest level.

As a representative body, the Institute fulfils its role in many different ways. Membership by proven qualifications and experience helps to set standards. The technical committees ensure that professional opinion and advice is fed back to the industry’s decision making bodies.

About the role

Job Title: Membership Administrator
Location: London
Salary: £22,000 pa plus a non contributory pension scheme of 9% of salary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join The Nautical Institute. Your responsibilities will be focused on providing high-quality customer service to the Institute’s members. The role involves undertaking general administrative duties and helping to improve and maintain membership data.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide administrative assistance to the Assistant Manager, Membership Services
  • Provide customer service support on the telephone and via mail and email
  • Assist in efforts to improve the Institute’s membership retention levels
  • Work to improve current membership processes
  • Carry out general administration duties such as document production, filing, processing payments and data inputting

We are looking for:

  • The ability to effectively plan and manage work
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Educated to A level or above
  • A high standard of English (both written and verbal)
  • Competency with Microsoft packages, particularly Excel
  • Able to work under pressure and with minimal supervision
