Job Title: Lay Trustee
Remuneration: This is a voluntary role. The AUA has an expenses policy to cover expenses incurred to attend meetings.
The AUA is looking for an experienced and committed person from within the professional association/membership sector to join its established Board of Trustees as a Lay Trustee.
The AUA is the professional association for higher education managers and administrators and a vibrant and thriving professional community within the sector. We are committed to connecting and developing every professional within our network.
It is an exciting time to join the AUA. You will help to shape and deliver the overall vision of a reputable professional association with a fifty-five year record of professionalising and advancing higher education by supporting and guiding the career development of HE professionals.
To complement and broaden the knowledge and experience of our Board our ideal candidate will be from outside the AUA and/or higher education and will have:
- Experience of working in the professional association and membership sector
- Experience of working in a commercial or small business environment
- Excellent listening skills and a constructive questioning style
- Developed networking skills to promote and facilitate contact and build relationships
- A commitment to advance the Association and to demonstrate the AUA Professional Behaviours
Board meetings are held in February, June and October, usually in London or Manchester. Attendance is also expected at an informal meeting at the Annual Conference and Exhibition held in various locations around the UK. The initial term of appointment would be two years, with term of office starting 1 August 2018.
