About the role
Job Title: Lay Member for Membership Committee
UKCP are currently seeking someone to join their well established Membership Committee. The role is a voluntary position and they are looking for someone who isn’t a practicing psychotherapist or psychotherapeutic counsellor. This new member will help to provide the committee with a broader perspective of membership processes across sectors and will be considered as a Lay Member. This position will offer the applicant to be involved in several of the key regulatory processes used by UKCP and their input will be invaluable.
The committee has 4-6 meetings per year, which are a mixture of face-to-face meetings and teleconferences. It is expected that members will make a commitment to attend all meetings each year and will be available for three days a month to attend to work arising from the committee – for example, working groups, correspondence and practice guidance.
As part of their aim to improve equality and diversity within the profession, UCKP are seeking to increase the diversity of their committee members. They would therefore welcome applications from under-represented and disadvantaged groups including people from Black and minority ethnic communities, people with disabilities and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
