The Make a Stand campaign has been shortlisted for a prestigious CIPR award as 200 sign up.
The campaign was launched by Chartered Institute of Housing in June in partnership with Women’s Aid and the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA).
It centres around a pledge that gives housing organisations the opportunity to sign up to make four focused, but easily deliverable commitments to provide support for people experiencing domestic abuse.
- Put in place and embed a policy to support residents who are affected by domestic abuse
- Make information about national and local domestic abuse support services available on your website and in other appropriate places so that they are easily accessible for residents and staff
- Put in a place a HR policy, or amend an existing policy, to support members of staff who may be experiencing domestic abuse
- Appoint a champion at a senior level in your organisation to own the activity you are doing to support people experiencing domestic abuse
It was announced on 20 July that the campaign had made it to the final of the Midlands Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Pride Awards in the Not-For-Profit Campaign of the Year category.

“The CIPR Awards are really prestigious and the competition is really strong so we are thrilled to make the final.
“Alison’s [Inman] choice of domestic abuse as the cause she wanted to raise awareness of during her presidency really struck a chord with the sector. It was clear housing associations felt they should be doing more on this crucial issue…”
Alison Inman, CIH President, said:
“The response from the housing sector to this campaign has been nothing short of amazing […] we hoped that organisations would support what we were trying to achieve and they absolutely have.”
The final ceremony for the Midlands CIPR Pride Awards will take place on Friday 26 October in Birmingham.
