Our research into CPD has given us a comprehensive understanding of what it does for your organisation and the range of issues that arise in managing CPD.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the means by which members of professional associations maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge and skills and develop the personal qualities required in their professional lives.

We consider CPD a vital part of any professional's career and support professional bodies to improve and update their CPD systems.

Professionals' Views on CPD

How do professionals feel about the CPD that they do, how much they do, what type of CPD they do, and why they do it?

For this research project, we analysed a survey of professional body members about CPD provided by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) as well as online delivery. 
 


E-Learning for Professionals

We ran a project on E-learning for Professionals, jointly funded by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and Engineers Australia.

We investigated professional bodies’ development and usage of e-learning, professionals’ views and experiences of e-learning, future trends and patterns in e-learning. 
 


Approaches to CPD Measurement

We conducted a comprehensive study on the various approaches to CPD measurement that are used across a range of professions.

This research was done on behalf of  the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the International Accounting Education Standards Board (IAESB), an independent standard-setting body that serves the public interest. 
 



CPD and Higher Education

We researched practices that would create mutually beneficial links between professional bodies and higher education institutions and other education and training suppliers in relation to CPD.

This research was funded by the Department for Innovations, Universities and Skills (now the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills) and was conducted in partnership with The Training Gateway.
