Neuro-inclusive Campaign Backed By Industry Leaders

A neuro-inclusivity campaign is receiving great support from industry leaders across insurance, investment and financial service sectors, including professional bodies and trade associations.

The campaign called "Creating Pathways to Neuro-inclusion" sees businesses and professional associations joining together with the Group for Autism, Insurance, Investment and Neurodiversity (GAIN) to radically improve the employment prospects of neurodivergent individuals.

The campaign, which was launched during Neurodiversity Celebration Week which was held 13-19 March 2023, highlights the need to "review, reflect, and change the way the industry operates for the benefit of neurodivergent employees."

Among well know insurers such as Aviva, Ageas, and Zurich Insurance to name but a few, The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has also joined the campaign.

in a quote to Business Insurance Mag CII equality, diversity, and inclusion manager Vivine Cameron said "the professional body (CII) is committed to driving equality of opportunity for all regardless of their race, age, gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, sex and sexual orientation, religion or belief, and disability, whether it’s seen or unseen.

“Additionally, the CII seek to be supportive of those experiencing challenges through building resilience, supporting development, and ensuring wellbeing,” Cameron said. “We want all our members, employees, and other stakeholders to feel included, with a positive sense of belonging, so that everyone can add value and fulfil their full potential in the profession.”

PARN is currently undertaking an Ask The Network Survey (ATN), commissioned by The Engineering Council. The Engineering Council is undertaking a project to identify barriers to neurodivergent applicants for Engineering Technician, Incorporated Engineering, and Chartered Engineers. As part of this work, we are exploring best practice in supporting members, employees, and registrants. As part of this project, the Engineering Council would also like to gauge the experiences of other professionals bodies in their respective sectors. Therefore, they would like to consult PARN members on the following:

  • Policies and procedures designed to support neurodivergent applicants
  • Good practice for supporting neurodivergent applicants
