Nicola Gale said:

“It is an honour to have been elected as BPS President and it will be a privilege to serve. The BPS has a century of history as the professional body for the science and practice of psychology. Our mission, to ensure that people are equipped with the everyday psychological skills and knowledge to navigate a complex world, knowing themselves and others better, has never been more relevant than in current times.

Our focus in the coming year is particularly on inclusion, investing in future generations and developing and disseminating the evidence base relevant to the complex human social and environmental factors relevant to public policy.

The BPS exists to make things better for people, so that everyone can access evidence-based psychology to enhance their lives, communities and wider society. There are many areas of challenge where our discipline can make a real difference through our research, practice, education and public affairs work.  As President, I am looking forward to working on this over the coming year with our communities across the four nations of the UK, in Europe and internationally; and with our members, chief executive, directors and staff.”

These aims will build on BPS's recent Declaration on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion which can be read here.
