HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF HIGHER EDUCATION!

Want to be involved in shaping the future of a UK-wide higher education teaching excellence initiative?

The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) is seeking to recruit approximately fourteen people with a thorough knowledge of employer and professional body needs as panel members on the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).  This is an opportunity to get involved in delivering a high-profile and ground-breaking exercise in the higher education (HE) sector.

The TEF is a scheme for recognising excellent teaching at universities, colleges and other HE providers across the UK, introduced by the Department for Education in 2016 and implemented by HEFCE.  Last year, participating providers received a provider-level gold, silver, bronze or provisional award reflecting the excellence of their teaching, learning environment and student outcomes, including employment outcomes.

This year, HEFCE is running a subject-level pilot to inform future development of the framework and is seeking professional, statutory and regulatory body (PSRB) and employer representative panel members to assess how the professional and employer needs of a subject area or sector are considered by higher education providers.

The role will require approximately 16 days’ work (9 days remote work and 7 days of meetings) between February and June 2018 for which there is a flat fee of £4000, plus travel and subsistence costs.  All appointments are initially for one year and may be extended for a further year.

Successful candidates will have senior-level responsibility for graduate recruitment or employment at a major employer, representing graduate employers; or regulating professional standards.  You will contribute advice on employer and professional perspectives at meetings of the Subject Panel, agree indicative ratings and provide feedback on the two models

For full details and to apply, please access the recruitment portal at https://tef.hefce.ac.uk/recruitment. The deadline for applications is midday on Friday 6 October 2017.

There may be opportunities beyond this date, so please contact the TEF team [email protected] if you would like to be involved or with any queries you may have.
