ENGINEERING COUNCIL: ANNOUNCES LICENCE EXTENSION AND A NEW LICENCED MEMBER

PARN Global News Article - 31 January 2019

The Engineering Council is pleased to announce the Permanent Way Institution (PWI) receiving approval to become a new Licensed Member of the Engineering Council (having previously held Professional Affiliate status) and assess candidates for Engineering Technician (EngTech), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

The Engineering Council is also pleased to announce the Institute of Highways Engineers (IHE) receiving approval to assess candidates for Information and Communication Technology Technician (ICTTech) status. This is in addition to the IHE’s existing licence to assess candidates for EngTech, IEng and CEng registration.

The granting of a licence to a professional engineering institution allows them to assess candidates for inclusion on the national register of professional engineers and technicians and on application to also accredit academic programmes and professional development schemes.

Engineering Council CEO Alasdair Coates said “The Engineering Council’s vision is to maintain society’s confidence and trust in the engineering profession. We achieve this through working with partners across the professional engineering community and are pleased to see PWI achieving those standards expected of a Licensed Member and IHE offering a wider choice of professional engineering registration titles to its members”.

Details of all currently licensed professional engineering institutions can be found at: www.engc.org.uk/peis
