27 October 2009
PARN offices in Bristol
This one day workshop, facilitated by Professional Practice for Sustainable Development (PP4SD), is for professional bodies interested in expanding their knowledge of environmental sustainability. The workshop will be held 27 October at the PARN offices in Bristol, and is intended to explore ideas on how best to integrate sustainable development principles into professional practice.
This one-day workshop will bring together professionals from different areas to engage in practical activities and dialogue on sustainability and sustainable development. Facilitators from Professional Practice for Sustainable Development will work with participants to develop methods for approaching and resolving environmental issues. They will base their teaching around the particular skills, experience and needs of the individual attendees.
The workshop will help participants integrate sustainable development principles into their professional practice. Attendees will be able to keep ahead of the increasing demands to operate in more sustainable ways. In particular they will be more competent in:
• Explaining the terms sustainable development and sustainability to their colleagues and customers.
• Assessing how pressures from government, employers and customers for sustainable development might impact on their practice.
• Applying ‘joined-up’ thinking to working out solutions to professional and sustainability issues
• Applying techniques that help them integrate sustainable development principles into their professional planning
• Preparing a sustainable development action plan.
