2008
Context
The survey focused on the salaries, bonuses and benefits packages of a broad spectrum of the key staff employed at professional bodies in the UK. The roles ranged from the Chief Executive to senior staff members in a range of departments, including Marketing, Professional Development, Finance, IT and Membership.
The survey occupies a unique niche in the market for such research. This is because at present there are no other surveys which deal purely with the professional bodies sector; instead such surveys tend to focus predominantly on commercial organisations, making it difficult to gauge the current trends of the professional bodies sector. Our specifically tailored survey aims to address this problem.
Outputs
Survey results are published in the Salary Survey of UK Professional Bodies 2008 report.
49 professional bodies responded to the survey. The respondents were almost equally divided between London based organisations (25) and those based outside of London (24). There was a wide range of sizes of organisations based on full time equivalent (FTE) staff, from four in the 1-3 FTE category to three in the 251-500 FTE category. Almost half classified themselves as international organisations, while the rest were UK-wide.
The results of the survey will be useful to those working in human resources at professional bodies in the UK and to anyone looking for benchmarking aids.
