Report for Panel on Fair Access to the Professions - FREE

Report for Panel on Fair Access to the Professions - FREE

The Panel on Fair Access to the Professions was announced by the Cabinet Office on 13th January 2009 as part of a package of measures contained in the New Opportunities White Paper.

The Panel looked at the processes and structures that govern recruitment and progression into the professions. It also sought to identify actions that the professions, supported by Government where required, could undertake to ensure fairer access for people from all social backgrounds.

PARN was contracted by the Cabinet Office in February 2009 to facilitate and host a meeting of professional bodies, with a particular emphasis on smaller and medium-sized bodies, in order to coordinate a submission to the Panel in response to the Call for Evidence.

We invited all our professional body members in the UK to two consultation meetings in March 2009 to coordinate their response to the Call for Evidence. A total of 33 professional bodies responded and 22 attended the meetings.

The final report reflects the views of the 22 professional bodies who responded to the Summary of Recommendations, but it is further informed by those who attended the meeting or contributed their views through email or telephone conversations.
