Below you will find information on PARN research, publications, events and membership in Canada.
Research
In 2009, PARN conducted research for a large Canadian professional body in partnership with our Associate, Hanan Jibry.
In 2009, PARN undertook our third International Benchmarking Survey (IBS) – a comprehensive triennial survey of professional bodies, covering the areas of regulation, governance, membership, operations, CPD, ethics and external relations. The 2009 IBS gathered information from professional bodies in Australia, UK, Ireland, Canada and Singapore.

PARN’s Member Networks research gathered information from professional body members on their opinions on virtual and face to face networks – your branches, groups and social networking tools such as Facebook and LinkedIn. The survey was run with 26 participants, including the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Events
Today's Challenges: Self-Regulation and Volunteer Management
The recent government incursion into regulatory bodies in Ontario raises questions about the Canadian bodies’ right to self-regulate. The workshop presentations and discussion mainly focused on how regulatory colleges can preserve self-regulation and the perceived threats to self-regulation. Delegates attending the workshop had the opportunity to look at self-regulation from an international perspective and discuss preliminary results from the PARN Professional Bodies International Benchmarking Survey.
