International Benchmarking Survey - 2009
The 2009 IBS gathered information from professional bodies in Australia, UK, Ireland, Canada and Singapore. The IBS is a comprehensive triennial survey of professional bodies, covering the areas of regulation, governance, membership, operations, CPD, ethics and external relations.

Social networking - 2009
PARN’s Member Networks research gathered information from professional body members on their opinions on virtual and face to face networks – your branches, groups and social networking tools such as Facebook and LinkedIn. The survey was run with 26 participants, including CPA Australia.

Events
Output Measurement in CPD - PARN seminar in 2009
This seminar took place at the offices of the Institute of Actuaries in Sydney. The seminar included a PARN presentation on research undertaken for the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) on output measurements in continuing professional development (CPD), as well as a case study – “CPD auditing: measuring success” – presented by Anne Peters, Director of Governance and Regulation at the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.

Professional Bodies: Online CPD and Social Networking - PARN event in 2009
This event was held 29 May at CPA Australia in Melbourne. The seminar included a presentation of PARN research into online CPD and social networking by Professor Friedman, and a case study presented by CPA Australia on social networking and knowledge exchange.

Governance & Volunteers: New directions in roles and responsibilities - PARN seminar in 2009
The final 2009 seminar on 2 June was held at the offices of Engineers Australia in Canberra. It included a PARN presentation on managing volunteers in professional bodies, in addition to two case study contributions on volunteer management presented by the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Engineers Australia.
