With 40,000 members worldwide and over 5,000 overseas, the RIBA has a truly global reach. In order to enhance its influence and reputation internationally in terms of professional relationships and standards as well as promoting business opportunities, the following roles are now available:
INTERNATIONAL TRADE OFFICER
Full time, based in London
The main aim of this role is to expand and promote international business and trading opportunities for RIBA practices and its members around the world. Working closely with the RIBA International Committee as well as the UK Business Development team, you will develop strong partnerships with key trade organisations overseas, organise international trade missions and conferences/events and interact with Government departments and agencies to promote the UK's export agenda for architecture.
INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS OFFICER
Full time, based in London
The main focus of this role is to develop and promote professional standards, qualifications and regulatory frameworks that enables architecture and architects to flourish internationally. To achieve this, you will contribute to and promote the RIBA's interest in International and EU standards and agreements as well as develop close relationships with relevant international organisations and key partner institutes abroad. This will underpin the aim to heighten the reputation and influence of the RIBA and its members on an international stage.
For both roles, you should be degree qualified (or equivalent), with first class interpersonal skills and political awareness. Exposure to international and UK professional services with awareness of either business and marketing strategies (for the International Trade role) or regulatory and policy systems relating to the built environment sector (for the International Standards role) is a must. The ability to manage a complex programme of work involving external partnerships and diverse stakeholders groups is also essential. Preferably with fluency in a foreign language, experience within the construction, design or built environment sectors would be beneficial. An element of international travel including overnight and weekend stays will be required from time to time, so flexibility is key.
